Budgetify
Terms of Use
The short version
Budgetify is a personal budgeting app that runs entirely on your phone. By using it you agree to these terms. They are written to be read: the app is a private tool you control, it is provided as-is, it is not financial advice, and — because your backup passphrase is something only you hold — only you can recover your own data.
In one line: the app is yours to use for your own budgeting; the numbers it shows are a helping hand, not professional advice, and you are responsible for what you do with them.
1.Accepting these terms
By downloading, installing, or using Budgetify, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms by reference. If you do not agree, do not install or use the app, and — if you have already installed it — you can decline at the consent screen or uninstall it.
If any of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
2.Who may use Budgetify
Budgetify is a general-purpose personal-finance tool intended for adults managing their own money. You may use it only if you are able to form a binding contract under the laws that apply to you (in India, this generally means you are at least 18). It is not directed at children, and because the app collects no personal data and transmits nothing (see the Privacy Policy), it does not knowingly gather information from anyone.
3.Your licence to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Budgetify on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial budgeting. That is all this licence permits, and it does not transfer any ownership of the app to you.
4.Budgetify is not financial advice
This is the most important term, so we state it plainly. Budgetify is a record-keeping and organising tool. Everything it shows you — detected transactions, categories, budgets, totals, savings and net-worth figures, tax buckets, streaks, projections, and any insight, summary or suggestion — is information for your own use, not professional advice.
- Budgetify is not a bank, financial institution, adviser, accountant, or tax professional, and using it does not create any such relationship.
- Nothing in the app is investment, tax, legal, or accounting advice, or a recommendation to take or not take any financial action.
- Before you rely on any figure for a real decision — a tax filing, a loan, a purchase, a budget you must live within — verify it yourself and, where it matters, consult a qualified professional.
5.Automatic detection is a convenience, not a guarantee
When you allow it, Budgetify reads bank and payment SMS on your device to detect transactions automatically. This is a best-effort convenience with real limits you should understand:
- It may miss a transaction, read one twice, misread an amount, date, merchant or account, or mis-categorise something — for example when a bank changes its message format, or when an alert arrives by RCS or another channel the app cannot read.
- The figures Budgetify shows are therefore only as complete and accurate as the messages it received and parsed. Budgetify is not, and must not be treated as, a source of truth for your finances. Your bank and your own records are.
- You are responsible for reviewing your transactions and for the accuracy of anything you enter or edit yourself.
6.Backups, exports, and your passphrase
Budgetify lets you create an encrypted backup and export your data. With that control comes responsibility that only you can hold:
- A backup is encrypted with a passphrase that only you know. We never see it, it is never sent anywhere, and it is not stored or recoverable by us or anyone else. If you lose your passphrase, the backup cannot be opened — the data in it is gone. Keep your passphrase safe; we cannot reset it or recover a backup for you.
- Once you export or share data — to a file, a cloud drive, or another app through Android's share sheet — that copy is outside Budgetify and outside our control, and is governed by wherever you sent it. Look after those files yourself.
- Budgetify stores your data in its private on-device storage. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling it deletes that storage. We keep no copy, so we cannot restore anything you delete.
7.Your data belongs to you
The financial information you record in Budgetify — your transactions, tags, budgets, goals, notes, and everything else — is yours. It stays on your device, and we neither claim any ownership of it nor receive any copy of it. You are responsible for the content you enter and for using the app lawfully and only for your own data.
8.Acceptable use
Use Budgetify for its purpose — managing your own finances — and not to:
- break the law, infringe anyone's rights, or record data about other people without a lawful basis;
- copy, resell, redistribute, rent, or offer the app as a service to others;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the app except to the narrow extent the law expressly permits despite this restriction; or
- attempt to defeat, remove, or work around any licensing, entitlement, or security mechanism in the app.
9.Our intellectual property
Budgetify — its software, name, logo, designs, text, and other content we provide — belongs to us and our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms give you a licence to use the app (section 3); they do not give you any right to our brand or code beyond that. Your own financial data (section 7) is not ours and is expressly excluded from this.
10.Purchases and subscriptions
Budgetify may offer optional paid features. Any purchase is processed entirely by Google Play under Google's terms; Budgetify never handles or sees your payment details and receives only whether an entitlement is active (see the Privacy Policy). Prices, billing, renewals, cancellations, and refunds are handled through Google Play and your Google account, subject to Google's and any applicable statutory terms. Paid features are provided on the same as-is basis as the rest of the app.
11.Third-party destinations
When you choose to share or export — a summary card, a report, a backup — you pick the destination app or service. Those destinations are operated by others, are outside our control, and are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, not ours. We are not responsible for what a destination you chose does with content you sent it.
12.The app is provided "as is"
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Budgetify is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that transaction detection will be complete or accurate, or that the app will meet your requirements. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you; where a warranty cannot be excluded, it is limited to the minimum the law allows.
13.Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Budgetify and its developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, savings, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of — or inability to use — the app. This includes, without limitation, loss arising from an inaccurate or missed transaction, a financial decision made in reliance on the app, or a backup that cannot be opened because a passphrase was lost.
Where liability cannot be excluded under the law that applies to you, our total liability for all claims relating to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim, or ₹1,000. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
14.Ending your use
You can stop using Budgetify at any time by uninstalling it; that removes its on-device storage. This licence ends automatically if you break these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive — including sections 4, 6, 7, 9, and 12 through 17 — continue to apply after you stop using the app.
15.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app evolves. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" above and publish the new version at this address. If a change is significant, we will make it clear within the app. Continuing to use Budgetify after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms; if you do not agree, stop using the app and uninstall it.
16.Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts at the developer's place of business in India will have jurisdiction — except where the mandatory consumer-protection law of the country where you live gives you the right to bring proceedings there and to the protection of its laws, which these terms do not take away.
